Typographic Magazine — Seravek Typeface
The goal of this project was to create a magazine spread that demonstrates the best use of the typeface chosen. For research, I explored grid structure and its role in unifying content and organizing based on the importance of hierarchy. I studied the design standards for text on magazine layouts and made sure to take readability into account when I structured the spreads.
I chose the typeface Seravek, designed by Eric Olson, because of the multiple weights and the minimalistic look of the font. I made sure to present an even balance of information and design elements on both spreads; the first page was text-based and the second page was image and element-based.
For the color scheme, I wanted a limited color palette to interact with the modern simplicity of the Seravek typeface. Thus green became the main display color, and black and white became the highlights to draw attention to specific information and imagery.
